One Day at a Time
Nov 10th, 2009 by David Murray
I know, I know.. what happened to the reopening of this blog? Yeah, I have to admit, I expected to write something sooner than this.
Life threw me a curve ball, as life often does to all of us, and I had to take some time off. I completely unplugged. It was a strange, but eye opening experience to be so disconnected from the social web and everything else.
If there is one thing I learned during this sabbatical, it is to take life one day at a time.
This advice is often overlooked, especially in this “now” lifestyle we’ve become accustomed to. And I would argue that very few of us truly know how to take life one day at a time. I highly recommend trying it!
Time slows down, and you are able to fully appreciate all the beauty and gifts that life has to offer. The small things start to blossom into meaningful expressions of fulfillment. The worries and fears tend to diminish as their strength wanes. Life is truly a miracle when one takes a moment to pause and enjoy it.
So that is what I am doing. I guess you could call this a spiritual exercise, but I prefer to simply call it, living.
Thanks for being here.

I appreciate this insightful reminder.
D- best of luck on the journey.
This is a good life lesson for all of us. It’s important to slow down and take it all in more often than most of us do. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a tough situation for us to learn that. Don’t forget - everything happens for a reason. You will emerge from this a stronger person! Thanks for reminding us that it’s important to truly live, not zip through life at 100 mph.
I missed ya man, but I can attest that sometimes, you need to take some time away from it all to kind of reconnect with yourself. Welcome back dude.
Take care of yourself, Dave! It’s good to hear from you.
Cheers

@Dave - anytime, I appreciate your support!
@sean williams - thank you. This is an adventure isn’t it?
@Nikki Stephan - Every cloud has a silver lining right? Your friendship is a blessing.
@Ryan - It was good to see you the other day. The time off wasn’t planned. that’s for sure, but it certainly helped put things in perspective.
@Kneale - how have you been? Good to hear from you to!
I too have had to take this outlook on life recently. I have found it that it helps a lot actually. It is good to know there are other people out there, that I know, that are maybe going through some similar life experiences. Good to hear from you.
Take Care,
mb
It’s been something I’ve been trying to do for a long time - hard sometimes. Welcome back Dave.
@Mary Beth - how have you been. Taking life one day at a time certainly isn’t easy, but it sure is a heck of a lot easier once you get to used to it. You miss a lot less than you might expect when you slow down.
@Kathryn - Very hard. And for me, it was a forced lesson. Maybe that’s the only we can learn.. sad but true. Thanks, I’m happy to be back.
It is always good to take some time off even if it is for one day to just think about things. I hope you are feeling better! We missed you at Tweetea someone needs to start these things off.
Hi Jamie - thanks. How have you been? Tweetea is awesome. I’m sure I’ll make it back to a few meetings soon.
